The 38th edition of the $600.000-added IRHA-IRHBA-NRHA Futurity, organized in collaboration with TFY and LGV Sport, opened its doors to competition today in Cremona, Italy.

Held on November 8-18 in the newly laid out CremonaFiere reining pavilions, the oval arena welcomed the first finals of the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation (FISE)/Italian Reining Horse Association (IRHA) Italian Reining Championship.

The first Final was the FISE/IRHA Ladies class where — in a field of 18 finalists - Francesca Righi reined Sanger Boy (NRHA Four Million Dollar Sire Walla Walla Whiz x Sanger Chic), owned by Isabella Righi, to a 140.5 score and the highest step of the podium. Ilaria Cigognini and her own KN D Badger Classic (Okie Dun Badger x Bragalina Classic), a half-point behind, closed in second place. Closing the podium was Nadia Schieder and RM Spooksgottastar (NRHA Five Million Dollar Sire Spooks Gotta Whiz x Starmax Rm), owned by Az. Agr. ZU Ziug., who closed with a 139.5.

Winning the FISE/IRHA Prime Time Championship performing to a 144.5, as well as occupying the second step of the podium after closing with a 140,  was Roberta Gianformaggio aboard her own One Shot One Nic (Rooster Nic x Smart Jakalope) and Shining N Speedy Gun (NRHA Million Dollar Sire Colonels Shining Gun x Smart N Speedy) respectively. Closing the podium was Fabrizio Magni who rode his own SB Pilou Whiz (Hesa Mega Whiz x Genò Olena) to a 139.5 score.

Offering over a purse of over $600.000 and welcoming over 700 horses, the Italian Futurity is yet again one of the biggest events in Europe and is ranked as one of the top 10 leading NRHA events in the world. “Organizing the event as well as refurbishing the venue, even though it was an arduous task, makes me proud,” said Event Director Giancarlo Doardo. “I truly hope that this great event lives up to your expectations and that you all enjoy the experience.”

The  event offers the 3- and 4-year-old Futurity as well as NRHA ancillary classes and the FISE/IRHA Reining Championship Finals. Over 200 exhibitors will be filling up the trade show where close to 30.000 visitors are expected to visit over the 10 days of show.
