I would like to thank my family, instructor, and the GRC team for their support.”

Instructors Nicola Cordioli and Susi Zerbinatti

With a 216 score, Paolo Pettena—classified as physical— aboard Energy For Me dominated the Grade 4 and took second place in the European Cup. “I hoped to do better today but it could have been worse! In any case I am happy because I adore my horse and know that I can trust him completely. We have been together for the last seven years, I train every single day, and to be able ride reiners is a real pleasure.”

Limited Open

Agata Fumagalli (Monsereno Horse Asd)

Instructors Gigi Panzieri / Massimo Villa

Agata Fumagalli on Dun Little Princess closed her performance with a 201.5 score winning the gold medal in the Limited Open category. “Today’s show went well and am very happy. My horse, whom I have been riding for the last five years, is very kind; I train twice a week and next year I will be taking part in the Championships again.”

Intermediate Open

Agnese Agostinelli (Country Club I Gelsi)

Instructor Loredana Capone

Riding Yugo Chex, Agnese Agostinelli closed with a 213.5 score. This very good result brought the young rider to win the European Cup class, cognitive category. “I had great fun,” said Agnese. “I have been riding Yugo for the last year and I am very happy with him. I would love to carry on like this!”

Open

Nicolò Maggi (Monsereno Horse Asd)

Instructor Massimo Villa

Nicolò Maggi and Steady Wind SG closed their pattern with a 210 score and the gold medal in the Open. “The show went well, I got a good score, and it has been a wonderful experience,” he shared. “I have been riding my horse for ten years now so I know him very well. I would like to thank my instructor for the wonderful job done with us as well as the judges and public that cheered us on in the arena today.”

All the way from Denmark, Frigg Birt Muller and her Belles Fair competed in the European Cup cognitive division. “I started riding years ago and moved to reining in 2019 period during which I won four national titles,” said Frigg. “My horse is a fantastic 11-year-old AQHA mare I purchased six months ago and won two titles with. Today she was a little scared of the big arena, the lights, and the public as she is not used to big shows. However, I truly hope to be able to come back to Italy and do better.” Frigg shared that at home she rides three to four times a week and loves training as it is good for her body. “I would like to thank my mother who works hard in order to give me the opportunity to travel and show, and I would also like to thank FISE and Elementa for having given us the opportunity to ride here in Verona.”

Alessandro Pavoni, FISE National Para Reining Representative

“This year’s organization really worked well. We started with a few difficulties but found the right balance right away. The athletes and technicians adapted pretty quickly to this particular context and there was a lot of collaboration between them. These events can be challenging and anything can happen, but I am happy to say that all went well and everyone had fun. FISE formalized para reining four years ago and we started off with six entries the first year. Here we had 14 riders taking part in the event and we even had a Danish athlete. I am confident that we can count on a growing number of para-athletes in their respective regional championships.
